Gower Wassail

|

A-wassail, a-wassail throughout all the town
A-wassail, good neighbors, we'll drink to you now!
Besides all on earth, you have apples in store
Pray let us come in for it's cold by the door
There's a master and a mistress sitting warm by the fire
While we poor wassailers stand out in the mire
Come you pretty maid with your silver headed pin
Pray open the door and let us come in
And if we survive for another new year
Perhaps we may call and see who does live here
We know by the moon that we are not too soon
And we know by the sky that we are not too high
We know by the stars that we are not too far
And we know by the ground that we are within sound

Christmas Time Is Here
02:30
|
|||
Christmas time is here
Happiness and cheer
Fun for all that children call
Their favorite time of the year
Snowflakes in the air
Carols everywhere
Olden times and ancient rhymes
Of love and dreams to share
Sleigh bells in the air
Beauty everywhere
Yuletide by the fireside
And joyful memories there
Christmas time is here
We'll be drawing near
Oh, that we could always see
Such spirit through the year

December '04

December of ‘04, we got a Yuletide show
the miracle of manna, an inch of snow
it didn’t melt all day
we used a trash can for a sleigh
and we still talk about it
here at decades older, I am less impressed
seems the blessing only comes with bitterness
bi-annually, at least, the pipes and asphalt will freeze
and we’ll still talk about it
if I wish for anything this year,
it would be a bigger house
with walls spaced far enough apart
to keep my loved ones out the dark
when the power grid goes out
cause I keep you in my heart
yeah, I keep you even when we are apart
and I’d keep you out of the dark
if I only could
all that you believe in can survive this one
a fairy only keeps her wings if you cheer them on
well, it’s hard to find a star
in all this godforsaken dark
so I’ll believe in you
sure, the days are colder and the nights are long
but don’t you worry, I don’t think the magic’s gone
we could light a fire
we could lift our voices higher
we can believe in you
if I wish for anything this year,
it would be a crystal ball
or the winning numbers on the wall
wouldn’t want a dime or dollar
only power to change anything at all
cause I keep you in my heart
I keep you even when we are apart
I’d keep you out of the dark
if I only could
yeah, I keep you in my heart
I keep you even when we’re worlds apart
I will keep you out of the dark

Merry Christmas To You
01:44
|
|||
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up against the cold
Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight
And so: I'm offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although it's been said many times, many ways
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you

oh I'll be home for Christmas
if I can be there
oh I wouldn't wanna miss it
if I'm free this year
I’ll be home for Christmas
if I’ve got the time
set a place for me
and maybe I’ll swing by
yeah, I know it’s been a minute
that I’m only halfway in it
but I hope that it still shows that you’ve been on my mind
I'll be home for Christmas
maybe a few days late
travel's just a little cheaper
if you can pick your own dates
haven’t checked the books so I can’t say just yet
there’s a hundred parties I already can’t forget
and I know it’s been a minute
that I’m only halfway in it
but I hope that it still shows that you’re a friend of mine
yeah, I’m sorry it’s been a minute
that my heart just isn’t in it
but I hope that you still know you’re always on my mind
I’ll be home for Christmas but I can’t stay long
sure I’ll carol with the family for maybe just one more song
when it’s done, I know we’ll start over a hundredth time
yeah, Christmas never ends, so maybe
I’ll be home for Christmas
if I can be there
I’ll be home for Christmas
if I’m free this year
I’ll be home for Christmas
if I’ve got the time
set a place for me and maybe
I’ll be home for Christmas

The Oh Hellos began in a cluttered
bedroom, where siblings Maggie and Tyler Heath recorded their self-titled EP in 2011. In the fall of 2012, the sibling duo released their debut full-length record Through the Deep, Dark Valley, an album full of regret and redemption, which they wrote, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered themselves.
